Principal - Br Paul Conn

The Principal:

  • ensures the promotion of education in faith within the school, through personal example and through the primacy given to the development of and participation in a sound Religious Education program which includes a coordinated program of prayer and worship;
  • ensures that the school operates as part of the school community by establishing appropriate consultation/communication with parents and the relevant parish priest(s);
  • provides effective leadership within the school community to ensure that students receive a quality education in accordance with Catholic Faith and Christian principles, State Registration Requirements and Christian Brother Educational policies by planning directing and regularly evaluating curriculum development, teaching programs and extra-curricular activities;
  • provides for quality of teaching and learning, for faith development and pastoral care through appropriate selection and guidance of staff and by ensuring the on-going spiritual and professional development of staff. 
  • establishes an optimum physical learning environment within funding constraints by carefully utilising resources to maintain and develop school premises, equipment and facilities, consistent with Statutory Regulations.
  • facilitates a positive school climate amongst students and staff and promotes commitment to school goals by providing effective leadership, a clear sense of purpose and an articulation of the ethos of a Catholic school.
  • provides for effective pastoral care of members of the school community by establishing and guiding the processes for identifying and responding to their respective needs.
  • implements efficient and effective administrative practices by establishing appropriate communications, resource management, accounting/record-keeping procedures and fulfils the accountability requirements of the System and Government Grants.

Deputy Principal - Mr Michael Ronchetti

The Deputy Principal is a member of the School Leadership Team, directly  responsible to the Principal and works in partnership with the School Leadership Team in providing quality Catholic education for the students of the School.  The appointment of a person to this position within CBHS Lewisham is made by the Province Leadership Team of the Christian Brothers in consultation with the school.

The Deputy Principal is to assist the Principal in the overall leadership and management of the school.  The Deputy Principal is to assume the role of “Acting Principal” at those times when the Principal is off the school premises.  The Deputy Principal, together with the Principal, is responsible for the religious and educational leadership of the school as well as its overall direction in order to provide for effective care and education of the students through facilitation of their spiritual, social, academic and personal development within the resource and funding constraints of the school.

This leadership and direction will be consistent with the vision of Edmund Rice Education Australia; Christian Brothers’ Leadership Team; Catholic teachings, principles and values; current understanding of the process of team building, delegation and development of personnel; knowledge of curriculum planning, development, program implementation and evaluation processes.

 

 AP Curriculum - Mr JoE ZAVONE

The Assistant to the Principal, Curriculum is a member of the School Leadership Team, directly responsible to the Principal and works in partnership with the School Leadership Team in providing quality Catholic education for the students of the School. The position of Assistant to the Principal, Curriculum is a position of special and senior responsibility within the school. The Principal of CBHS Lewisham is responsible for the appointment of a person to this special position.
The Assistant to the Principal, Curriculum is to assist the Principal in the overall coordination and management of the school’s curriculum.

 

AP Identity - Ms Lucie Farrugia

The Assistant to the Principal, Identity is a member of the School Leadership Team and is directly responsible to the Principal for promoting and giving life to the identity of the school as a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition.

The AP, Identity promotes Christian values and organises the prayer and liturgical life of the school. This is achieved  by supporting the Religious Education Department, as well as providing liturgical support to classroom teachers and taking an active role in the teaching of the formal Religious Education Program within the school.  

In promoting the values of the Charter, the AP, Identity organises, facilitates and maintains formation programmes for members of the school community;  nurtures personal and a communal spirituality ; promotes education for justice and peace in partnership with the Justice and Peace Coordinator and developes collaborative relationships within and beyond the school community.

The AP-Identity contributes to the development of the culture of the school as a place of faith and learning by organising Opening School Masses, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Masses, Year Group Masses, Reconciliation, Reflection Days, Retreats, Academic Ceremonies, Co Curricula Ceremonies and other whole school events such as Year 12 Graduation Day and all whole school assemblies.

 

 AP Pastoral Care - Mr Greg Yates

The Assistant to the Principal, Pastoral is a member of the School Leadership Team and is directly responsible to the Principal in providing for the pastoral needs of the students of the School as well as for the effective execution of the duties as outlined below.  The role of the Assistant to the Principal, Pastoral provides an essential link between staff, students, parents and the School Leadership Team.

Many of the duties are focused on the daily routine involved in administering the school with specific care and concern for staff and students Years 5–12.

The key role of the Assistant to the Principal, Pastoral is to administer the school’s discipline and pastoral care program.  This involves liaison with Year Coordinators, Specialist Teachers, School Counsellor, Studies/KLA Coordinators so as to achieve a coordinated policy.

 

 AP Primary - Mr Mark Woodbury

The Assistant to the Principal (Primary Coordinator) is a member of the School Leadership Team, directly responsible to the Principal and works in partnership with the School Leadership Team in providing quality Catholic education for the students of the School. The position of Assistant to the Principal (Primary) is a position of special and senior responsibility within the school. The Assistant to the Principal (Primary) is a special teacher who demonstrates strong support for the vision and ministry of Catholic Education and assists the Principal in facilitating the Christian Brothers’ and the Church’s mission in this Edmund Rice school. The Principal of CBHS Lewisham is responsible for the appointment of a person to this special position.

The Assistant to the Principal (Primary) is to assist the Principal in the overall coordination and management of the Primary section of the school community.

 

 

AP Teaching & Learning - dR JOHN LEE

The Assistant to the Principal, Teaching and Learning is directly responsible to the Principal for developing policies and procedures for improved outcomes in Teaching and Learning and the development of excellence in Pedagogy for the whole school community.  The Assistant to the Principal, Teaching and Learning is responsible for overseeing the Learning Support Department of the School and meeting regularly with the Learning Support Coordinator and other staff


It also involves the providing of appropriate and just processes and structures to enable the efficient and effective day-to-day interaction of the school community in this area. The Assistant to the Principal, Teaching and Learning will comply with all EREA and school policies and ensure compliance to legislative and BOS requirements.

 

 

 

 Business Manager - Mr Chris Baird

The Business Manager is a member of the School Leadership Team. The Business Manager is responsible to the Principal who acts on behalf of the employer. The general duties of the Business Manager are as described below. Specific duties are managed by the Principal and may be altered from time to time after discussion with the Principal.

The Business Manager is responsible for the financial management, school operations, maintenance of plant and equipment, legal and personnel managment and stratgeic managment of the school. 


 

administration Coordinator - MR JOHN CARNABUCI

The Administration Coordinator is delegated responsibility by the Principal to focus on the daily organisation of the school. The Administration Coordinator demonstrates a high level of effective communication and pastoral understanding while leading staff, students and members of the school community. The Administration Coordinator develops, implements and maintains of the School Timetable.
