Justice & Peace
The vision of CBHS Lewisham as a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition asks students to seek justice and compassion for others, just as Edmund himself did. Service for others is important in the life of our school and is at the root of what it means to be Christian.
The primary goal of CBHS Lewisham is to develop young men who will not only become future leaders in their community but who will act with compassion and a strong sense of justice.
Students are given many opportunities to put their faith into action throughout their time at CBHS Lewisham, beginning in Year 7 with the Justice and Peace Program and culminating in Years 11 and 12 with the Senior Community Service Program. Perhaps the most significant community service opportunity is the school’s monthly commitment to the St. Vincent de Paul Night Patrol van.
It is hoped that the men who graduate from CBHS Lewisham will be able to say at some point in their lives, that their school actually stood up for the needs of others and encouraged each person to actively work for justice as part of their education, to put their faith into action.
