School Board

The school was established by the Christian Brothers and was governed as an independent Catholic school by the St Mary’s Province Leadership Team (New South Wales)  until October 2007. After that date governance of the school was handed on to Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA). EREA consists of a Council, a Board and an Executive Director who, with a team of directors and others, provides leadership for the network of 40 EREA schools and educational identities in Australia.  CBHS has a School Board that works in partnership with the Principal and School Leadership Team in significant areas of leadership such as policy making, compliance and budget.

 

Fred Carosi

 

Fred Carosi's son attended CBHS. He has a strong background in education having taught in schools for thirty-seven years, the last ten as a high school Principal. Presently he is retired but remains involved in education as a consultant, mentor and mediator.

Tish Creenaune

 

Tish is the parent of a CBHS Lewisham old boy (Darcy 2014). The driving force for her involvement in the Board is social justice, diversity and equity. She is the former Director of Policy at Women NSW and has been a senior policy planner and strategic project manager in the NSW Public sector for many years. As a former teacher, she has experience in the education and training, communities and social policy fields.

 

John Kennedy-Gould

 

John Kennedy-Gould, married to Margie, father of two fourth generation men of Lewo, Seamus and Brendan. Qualifications in social work and teaching. Currently working in aged care psychiatry and children/young adult acquired brain injury.  His involvement on the Board is driven by interests in indigenous and disability access. Maintenance of traditional ethos of service to local community.

Michael Price (Chair)

 

Michael Price was a student at CBHS Lewisham from 1954 to 1962.  He studied Law and then Criminology at Sydney University.  He is married with three children and his two sons attended CBHS Lewisham.  His grandson was Vice Captain at St Joseph’s College, Nudgee, Brisbane.  Michael was appointed a NSW Magistrate in 1980.

Francesca Di Benedetto

 

Francesca was appointed to the Board in June 2016. She is a senior lawyer with the Department of Family and Community Services, and previously with the NSW Law Reform Commission. Francesca is strongly committed to social justice, equity and inclusion. Francesca is married with three children.  Both her sons are CBHS students (Gabriele, class of 2015, and Gianluca).

Lachlan Haar

Lachlan is an ex student of CBHS - he graduated in 2005 and worked at CBHS as the Indigenous Mentor from 2007-2012. Lachlan has served as a Firefighter since 2009. He currently works in the areas of fire prevention and  building fire regulations. Lachlan is married with one son.

Justice Terry Sheahan

 

After attending CBHSL 1955-1963, Terry graduated BA, LLB from Sydney University and became a solicitor. From 1973 to 1988 he was a Member of the NSW Parliament, and from 1980 to 1988 a Minister in the State Labor Government. He then practised as a Mediator, until, in 1997, he was appointed as a Judge of the Land and Environment Court, where he remains, after having interrupted his service there to head the Workers Compensation Commission 2001-2007. He has eight children and two step-sons, and he and Jennifer share 14 grandchildren. In January 2002 he was made an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia, and his citation reads: “for service to the Law, particularly in the area of alternative dispute resolution, to the NSW Parliament, and to the Community through organisations concerned with health, care of the aged, human rights, and the environment”. He has also served on Boards for the Sisters of Charity and the Little Company of Mary.

Maria Issa

 

Maria Issa is married with two sons (Matthew and Patrick) who currently attend CBHS Lewisham. 

She completed Bachelor of Economics and Law Degrees at Sydney University and has held a number of roles

in a large Chartered Accounting firm, Major Bank and Australian Public Service Agency (ATO). 

Her experience has been in tax litigation, staff management, strategic business planning and corporate governance. 

Maria is particularly interested in social justice, inclusion and making a contribution to the school community.
