Reconciliation Week
Over the past week, CBHS Lewisham proudly celebrated National Reconciliation Week, engaging students in a range of meaningful activities that encouraged reflection, learning, and unity.
Highlights included a powerful talk by author and educator, Kylie Captain, a proud Gamilaroi woman, a flag-raising ceremony honouring the diversity of First Nations cultures, and a spiritual reflection through the Aboriginal Stations of the Cross. The Blessing of our Acknowledgement of Country plaque with ochre marked a significant moment of respect and identity within our school.
To conclude the week, a group of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, joined by friends, staff, and Inner West Council representatives, took part in a Reconciliation Walk to the Breathe Survival Memorial in Yeo Park. There, they shared stories, explored cultural teachings, and reflected on our shared journey toward truth, healing, and unity.
This National Reconciliation Week has been a time of deep reflection and action for our school community. From storytelling and ceremony to walking together and learning from Elders, we continue to embody our commitment to Reconciliation.
We look forward to continuing to bridge “Now to Next”, together.
