Science Week
National Science Week 2025 saw CBHS students filled with curiosity as they explored this year’s theme, Decoding the Universe. From decoding animal prints and DNA to modelling the solar system and investigating quantum phenomena, the activities encouraged critical thinking and hands-on learning.
Highlights of Science Week included the dynamic incursion ‘STEMania’ live science comedy show, a Year 11 Biology field trip to Long Reef Rock Platform, and a variety of engaging classroom activities. Students from both Primary and Secondary actively explored this year’s theme through hands-on, inquiry-based investigations—decoding animal prints, DNA and seed shapes, examining Fibonacci patterns in flowers, modelling the solar system, and investigating quantum phenomena and laser interference. These experiences promoted curiosity, critical thinking, and cross-curricular connections, while the field trip allowed students to apply ecological concepts in a real-world setting, deepening their understanding of the natural world and the scientific languages that help interpret it.
A big week of science, innovation, and inspiration—empowering the next generation of problem-solvers!
