FAQ's

Is CBHS a selective school?

No, CBHS Lewisham is proudly comprehensive. We believe in supporting every boy to achieve his potential, regardless of his academic level.

Why should we choose CBHS?

With 130 years of experience, CBHS is the boys’ education specialist. An independent Catholic school in the tradition of Edmund Rice, our single campus in the Inner-West of Sydney is a hub of excellence from academic achievement to sporting, music, social programs and community participation.

How does the school look after the boys?

CBHS Lewisham prides itself on a Pastoral Care system that is second to none. Your son is supported via his classroom teachers, homeroom teacher, Pastoral Coordinators and on-site School Counsellors. Year 5 boys are given a Year 12 buddy to help them navigate the nuances of CBHS life.

What are the intake years?

Most boys come into the school in Years 5, 6, 7 or 11. There are occasionally places in other years, so please contact us if your son is in another year.

What is the enrolment process?

If you are interested in enrolling your son at Christian Brothers’ High School Lewisham, please complete an Expression of Interest form to begin the process. Every applicant is offered an interview, and we will be in contact with you two years prior to his proposed commencement to request further information and arrange a suitable time for the interview to take place. If this interview is successful, we will confirm your offer in writing and you will be required to respond within a set period of time to confirm his place.

What is CBHS’ academic record?

We are proud of our achievements. In 2021, three of our Year 12 students ranked in the top 1% of the state in the HSC with ATARs above 90. (90.0, 99.6, 99.9). We encourage every boy to continue their education and cater for all boys, regardless of their academic abilities. With old boys, including Dr Victor Chang and Justice Terry Sheahan, our legacy of high achievement is testament to the quality of teaching and learning outcomes of the school.
